This is a complete set of 12 hand drawn and colored architectural drawings on waxed linen paper for the Grinnell Rural High School of Grinnell KS Gove County plus one extra on plain paper and uncolored. These were made in 1929 by the Architectural and Engineering Firm of Routledge and Hertz of Hutchinson, KS. Drawings of every perspective of the school as well as interior details and even lighting. Each one is approximately 18" x 24" and a beautiful piece of artwork with very subtle hand coloring. All are on Waxed Linen Paper or Drafting Linen. This was commonly used from the late 19th Century to Mid 20th Century as an alternative to wood-pulp and rag papers in creating technical drawings. Its major benefits were a considerable strength, especially in erasing and redrawing durability in handling, and translucency for making multiple reprographic prints. Manufactured as an undyed muslin woven fabric, typically using cotton or linen fiber, the textile was highly starched and then calendered to create a smooth surface for precise ink and graphite lines Very nice condition except for a couple of spots where colors have faded through and some roughness and tattering around the edges that doesnt go into the actual drawings. All are very suitable for framing. What a great piece of history!! Free Priority Mail shipping in the continental US. $799.99 OBO
