Absolutely fabulous Victorian masterpiece, a turn of the century French Limoges or Bavarian Porcelain Lamp.
The superbly hand-painted roses with foliage are artist signed.
I can't decipher the signature so any help with it would be appreciated.
I didn't take the lamp apart to check for markings but I would bet the bottom of the porcelain is marked. Of course, it may not be marked either. Just saying.
Anyway, the lamp has it's original wire hoop and two-piece wire shade frame. Will require recovering. But are difficult to find with the originals with this old of a lamp.
I'm guessing this lamp is circa 1890 to 1910s. Please use your own judgement.
The electrical parts look good
and the lamp works but should be checked out for safety's sake.
The lamp measures approx. 24" to the top of the socket.
The two porcelain parts and base measure approx. 18 1/2" tall by 8 1/2" across at the two urn type handles.
The solid scrolled bronze or brass, I believe bronze, base is approx. 8 1/2" square.
The lamp with shade frame measures 38" tall and is 34" tall to the brass finial.
There is no damage to the porcelain other than minor gold wear on the prominent edges.
The bronze/brass base has some dark patinated areas which should clean up nicely if desired.
The lamp weighs approx. 6 lbs.
I am open to serious offers.
